“A yearlong countdown to drupa 2020 has started, organizers point out. The trade fair for the global print industry starts on June 16, 2020, at the fairgrounds in Dusseldorf, Germany, and runs until June 26. “The trade fair once again confirms its position as the world’s leading trade fair for the industry,” say organizers. “The current exhibitor registration status already exceeds the figures of the same period for drupa 2016.”

The fair boasts 1,800 exhibitors from more than 50 nations, with top exhibitor nations being Germany, Italy, Japan, China, Britain and the Netherlands.

The motto for the 11-day event is “embrace the future,” with a focus on education, engagement and entertainment.

Drupa 2020 will be accompanied by an ancillary program with international speakers: the special forums drupa cube, drupa dna, touchpoint packaging and touchpoint 3D fab+print.

Investments are being made in infrastructure and new services for customers, organizers say: a new trade fair app, a new matchmaking tool and a new online order system for exhibitors. A wayfinding tool to improve navigation on the fairgrounds will also be available. The online ticket shop opens in September 2019 at www.drupa.com

“Messe Dusseldorf looks forward to welcoming exhibitors and visitors to experience the spirit of drupa, the innovative power and dynamics of the market and the unique charisma that only drupa offers. We look forward to a unique, successful and unforgettable experience,” says Sabine Geldermann, director of drupa and global head of Print Technologies for trade fair organizer Messe Dusseldorf.

“APTech’s RED HOT Technology Recognition Program will be a feature of PRINT 19 in Chicago (McCormick Place North, Oct. 3–5). The program showcases exhibitors’ newest products or services on the event floor and highlights publishing and printing tech, equipment, or service that has come to market within the past 12 months. All RED HOTs will be noted in the event guide, which will be printed and distributed at PRINT 19. Each recognized product will sport a highly visible RED HOT Technology marker and will be listed online and searchable within the event’s online directory and planner.

Each of the technologies may also be eligible to win one of three RED HOT Vanguard Awards, based on merit as a game-changer in the industry. The RED HOT Breakthrough Award recognizes products that build on existing tech to significantly advance its use; the RED HOT Collaboration Award recognizes innovative new products that result from a collaboration among different manufacturers; and the RED HOT Pioneer Award will be given to a product that’s the first of its kind or entirely new to the industry.

The press is now printing at full capacity.

“It is fun and rewarding to work with owner-operated newspapers who take great pride in serving their communities,” said Tom Loesch, president of imPRESSions.

Herald Publications (Better Newspapers) owns 21 weekly newspapers and shoppers and prints most of them at the Altamont facility. They also print several newsletters and flyers for commercial customers. The expansion increases color capability and improves quality for present and future jobs.”
