Lee closes Lincoln Design Center

Lee Enterprises closed its Regional Design Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, Jim Romenesko reported. The closure resulted in some 36 job losses, sources told Romenesko. Newspapers designed at the Lincoln center will be reassigned to centers in Madison, Wisconsin and Munster, Indiana, according to a memo to staff from Douglas L. Ranes, director of production for Lee Enterprises.

The memo went on to say that the move, “creates opportunity to simplify a number of production processes and become more efficient.”
Some Lincoln staff will be able to apply for positions in Madison and others will receive severance.
